ASSIST-RWANDA EDUCATION SPONSORSHIP program recognizes the value of education as a key to successful living for all young people in difficulties, and as a result, the development of the project is accorded priority this year. The  beneficiaries 500  [ three hundred (300) Secondary Students and two hundred (200) Primary Pupils ] will be provided with the basics for education like school fees, uniform, scholastic materials, medication and other necessary help.

Unsupported children and youth who are at risk of dropping out of school, especially girls and those from children-headed household families, or from very disadvantaged families,

2 Disabled children, especially girls (with sensory, physical or mental disabilities), who cannot receive education support,
3.  Deprived children and youth in either urban or rural settings, especially those who are discriminated or vulnerable on the basis of gender or disability.

Objectives of the Project

The main global objective of this implemented project is to offer education support to vulnerable children and youth identified as the most at risk of dropping-out-of-school. This is detailed  in the following  specifics  objectives :

1 To complement the government policy on education for all program, and private initiatives of NGOs and individuals,
2 To fulfil the ASSIST-RWANDA missions and goals, of mobilising support for the education of the vulnerable young people,
3. To contribute to the country’s recovery from the horrors of the 1994 Genocide by investing in education,
4. To promote an integral, comprehensive education orientated towards the respect of human rights and adapted to the present situation of the country.

Zones of operation and Implementation

ASSIST-RWANDA  implements this project in the following selected zones of operation:

  Northern Province of Rwanda

ASSIST-RWANDA operates the sponsorship project in Nyagatare District and in Musanze District

  Kigali City

Especially in Gasabo and Kicukiro Districts in Kigali City because that is where most its projects are, and are expected to complement the sponsorship project.

  Southern Province
The project  also operate in Kamonyi District
  Eastern province
In Rwamagana and Nyamata Districts in Eastern province, because of their proximity to other complementary projects run by ASSIST-RWANDA and because of the abundance of unsupported vulnerable children and youth. In regions where ASSIST-RWANDA has its projects functions and in zones where vulnerable children are most disadvantaged because of the socio-economic and history of the area.
