Home based care
for CHHs:
ASSISTRWANDA organisation does not only provide
employment opportunities, skills or counselling to its
beneficiaries, but also conducts regular visits to her
beneficiaries to check on their actual living situation
at home. In the year 2006, ASSIST trained Peer educators
and Volunteers visited 50% of beneficiaries’ homes (CHHs).
Even though it was noted that beneficiaries living
conditions of some beneficiaries had improved as
compared to when they were still uncared for, some
significant problems were noticed. They include poor
shelter and the deep desire to continue education as the
majority did not complete or even attend school due to
lack of parents and care takers.
ASSISTRWANDA managed to offer fifteen (15)
beneficiaries Sponsorship so that they can continue
their Secondary education and provided Scholastic
materials to a hundred (100) Primary Pupils. We hope
that more will be helped next year (2007) in this regard
